How long from an unpleasant picture must we be located without being emotionally influenced?

I saw this installation of wax characters made by Katerina Mistal on Teatergalleriet in Uppsala and I became so very impressed ! (and concerned...)

Ten years ago Sara Gullman was an apprentice of me. At that time my daughter Fideli was ten years old.

Last week was full and exciting. Sara took her Kandidat degree at HDK in Göteborg and Fideli got to know that she was offered to begin art school in Stockholm.

Two happy girls! Congratulations!

I was six or seven years when it was popular with flared trousers with a pattern that remind about this. Early summer and pastel - it dashed in the entire body when they became mine - I feelt so delicious and good-looking - I loved them!

It takes a while because the porseline clay must dry a bit in order to be good handled.

It is most fun to sculpture the small faces and to do small variations on them.

Children and flowers

When you are really small the flowers grow above your head. The seed globes of the dandelions whirl around and there is an absolute now. This is the way it is...

Sometimes it is fun to make small things.

Mitt allra första minne av lera

Jag är fyra år och jag sitter i en sandgrop och gräver. Om man kommer riktigt djupt ner kan man ha tur att hitta riktig lera. Den är så sval och slät och den går att forma till figurer utan att den faller isär som sanden. Man kan göra skålar och koppar…

Jag gör hål och pillar in de små blommorna och det blir så fint!

Varje år, då syrenerna blommar, kommer minnet tillbaka och jag är så tacksam för att mitt vuxenliv får gå i den här riktningen.

Lust – det var den känslan som var så stark. Tiden är upplöst, man bara håller på, man glömmer bort sig själv!

Det är ett tillstånd som jag älskar att vara i - då och nu.

My first memory of clay

I am four years and I sitting in a sandy hole and digs. If one comes really deeply down can one to have lucky to find real clay. It is so nice and smooth and it goes to shape to characters without that it falls apart as the sand. One can do bowls and cups… It grows lilacbushes around and it feels that they blossom the entire summer. I do holes to picks in the small flowers and it becomes so wonderful!

Each year, when the lilacbushes blossoms, the memory comes back and I am so grateful in order to centers adult life might go in this direction.

Desire - it is the feeling that where so strong. The time is dissolved, one only be on the point of, one forgets yourself! It is a condition that I loves to be in, then and now.

Konstfrämjandets verksamhet ägnas till stor del åt ”uppsökande utställningar”. Genom att visa konst i många olika sammanhang och i miljöer där människor vistas varje dag verkar man för att öka intresset och samtalet kring konst.

Just nu arrangerar de en liten utställning i Knivsta bibliotek med min keramik. Den pågår 12 – 31 maj. Dessa gungande barn ingår och jag har jobbat kring temat ”Glöm inte bort hur det känns när man är liten”.

A pot that hangs… (?) I don’t know how to say it in English. But I think that it is ok both with and without plant.

So much happens in may every year - and so little time…
The nature, the parties, late evenings. All wonderful people we want to meet , so many strong feelings. The first warm spring evenings feels so wonderfully.

A quite normal day in my studio with stamps and clay… It feels fine!

Two very small friends…

För mindre än ett år sedan läste jag en artikel där Karin Eriksson berättade om sin blogg och jag blev så inspirerad och fick lust att börja själv. Flera gånger fick jag goda råd av henne fast vi inte känner varandra.

Idag besökte vi hennes butik Manos för första gången och samtalade en stund, vilken underbar och generös person! Och hennes keramik tycker jag så mycket om! Elegant och sval och modern och egen…

Utställningen som pågår just nu är ett samarbete mellan Karin och Camilla Engman. De stora faten (sålda allihop!), fina former med en vit och matt glaserad yta och dekorerade med Camillas teckningar. Hennes underfundiga figurer som är så underhållande. Ett mycket glatt projekt med kanonresultat.

For less than a year ago I read an article where Karin Eriksson was interviewed about her blog and I became inspired to begin by myself. Several times she gave me good advices although we did not know each other.

Today, we visited her shop Manos for the first time and we discussed a while about the climate of ceramics contemporary Sweden. She is really a wonderful and generous person and I like her ceramics a lot. It is elegant, with nice shapes, cool and modern. She got her own style…

The exhibition that takes place right now is a collaboration between Karin and the artist
Camilla Engman. The big plates (all sold!), with delicate shapes with a white and dull glazing surface decorated with Camilla's drawings. Her cunning figures are so entertaining. This is a very successfully projects with extremely good results!

It was a happy day!
